Activities
Our Learning Environment

I have many play and learning activities to suit all ages and stages of development including construction, small world toys, role play, large motor skills, puzzles, board games, arts and craft materials, dressing up clothes, dolls, musical instruments, junk modelling, playdough and lots more.
To encourage child-initiated play, the majority of activities are easily accessible by the children and are, therefore, regularly risk assessed. The children are encouraged to choose for themselves and put toys/books away when finished with or if they want to play with something else.

The younger children have access to toys appropriate to their age and stage of development, ie shape sorters (both bought and home made), sensory games/books and lots of one-to-one attention. I have a large range of reading books covering all ages. Outside, my small garden is fully enclosed with loads of play equipment including a climbing frame, mud kitchen, sand and water table, large construction blocks and more. We often go out for walks or general outings, This gives us endless opportunities to climb trees, play pooh-sticks in the stream and generally just run around in a traffic-free areas. I attend a toddler groups and soft plays regularly and also have set up a Wild tots playgroup in our local area which encourages outdoor play in all weathers. I regularly meet up with other childminders and their children too.
